Collin McMahon
Collin McMahon (born January 5, 1968 in Garmisch-Partenkirchen ) is an American author, screenwriter and translator , for productions by Sönke Wortmann , Michael Herbig and Disney , among others .
Life
McMahon, the son of American parents born in Germany and thus an American citizen, went to the USA in 1986 after graduating from Munich's Theodolinden-Gymnasium and studied media studies at Pomona College in California . Back in Germany, he worked at RTL in 1990 as a production assistant for the production of programs with Thomas Gottschalk , worked as a freelancer for the BR Zündfunk and as a translator and press spokesman at the Munich Film Festival and at other international events. He worked as a dubbing writer in the production of Disney series and as a screenplay translator, as a screenwriter and translator, and later as a writer of children's books. Since May 2018 he has been working in the team of the AfD Bundestag member Petr Bystron .
Disney and film translations
From 1998, McMahon worked as creative supervisor for the German-speaking countries and Benelux in the production of the Dutch dubbing and German TV versions of Disney productions.
Since 2008 he has been working as a freelance translator, primarily for film productions and publishers. Among other things, he translated the scripts of Der Medicus , Vorstadtkrokodile , Wickie auf Große Fahrt , Wickie und die stark Männer , Hindenburg and co-wrote the script for the film Armistice . He also wrote children's books such as Lucas and Scotti and the book series The Magic Sword . McMahon translated over 20 children's books into German.
McMahon lives in Munich , is married and has identical twin daughters .
