Collin Andrew Samuel (born August 27, 1981 in Manzanilla , Trinidad ) is a football player from Trinidad and Tobago . The striker currently plays for Guaya United in the TT Pro League and is also in the national team of his home country .
Club career
Samuel began his professional career in 1998 with Doc's Khelwalaas FC from Trinidad; he later moved to San Juan Jabloteh , where he was under contract in 2001 and 2002. In August 2002 he moved to the second Scottish league for FC Falkirk , he completed a total of 42 competitive games in eleven months at Falkirk, in which he scored 16 goals, including two hat tricks . This is how Dundee United became aware of Samuel. He has been under contract with this club since the beginning of the 2004/05 season. After a goal in the first game of the season, things got quiet around him at first, so that for the time being he was rarely used and mostly as a substitute, in his second season Samuel was then used 24 times, although mostly still from the bench . It was only in the 2005/06 season that he managed to establish himself in the first team, with eight league goals in 35 competitive appearances. In January 2006, his contract was therefore prematurely extended by one year.
In 2007, Samuel moved to the Canadian Major League Soccer club Toronto FC . There he stood on the pitch 19 times. On April 18, he was fired for personnel reasons and has been playing since May 6, 2008 at FC St. Johnstone in the Scottish Premier League.
National team
Samuel played in his homeland's U-21 team in 2001, before he scored two goals immediately on his debut for the A selection against Grenada on January 11, 2001, and has since played a total of 17 times for his homeland, but only managed one another gate. Samuel has mostly been a substitute player since 2003, apart from three appearances at the CONCACAF Gold Cup in 2005, between 2003 and 2006 he only played in one qualifier for the 2006 World Cup . Nevertheless, Samuel was called up to the finals in his home country and in 2006 he played three times in friendly matches.
