Collinder 70 is an open star cluster in the constellation Orion and is 800–900 light years away. Already freiäugig are about 8 to see up to 15 stars. At around 3 ° it is one of the largest star clusters and was included in the catalog named after him by Per Collinder . It contains the three belt stars of the constellation Orion and another 130 stars, most of which are brighter than 10 mag .
Among all the open star clusters in the night sky, Collinder 70 is the brightest in terms of integrated brightness (0.4 mag).
