Colline di Levanto

The Colline di Levanto (German: "Hills of Levanto") are a wine-growing area in the northern Italian province of La Spezia in the Liguria region . The wines have had a "controlled designation of origin " (" Denominazione di origine controllata " - DOC) since 1995 , which was last updated on March 7, 2014.

Growing area

The very small growing area includes parts of the municipalities of Levanto , Bonassola , Framura and Deiva Marina .

Manufacturing

The wines are produced in three ways:

  • Colline di Levanto bianco : contains at least 40% Vermentino , at least 20% Albarola and 5% Bosco . A maximum of 35% other analogous grape varieties that are approved for cultivation in the Liguria region may be added. Has at least 11.0  % alcohol by volume .
  • Colline di Levanto Vermentino : contains at least 85% Vermentino and at least 20% Ciliegiolo . A maximum of 15% other analogue grape varieties that are approved for cultivation in the Liguria region may be added. Has at least 11.0  % alcohol by volume .
  • Colline di Levanto rosso : contains at least 30% Sangiovese and at least 20% Ciliegiolo . A maximum of 50% other analogous grape varieties that are approved for cultivation in the Liguria region may be added. Has at least 11.0  % alcohol by volume . Also available as " Novello ".
