The Colmnitzbach is an approximately 12 km long right tributary of the Bobritzsch , which rises on the southeastern outskirts of Pretzschendorf .
course
It flows through the place and its district Colmnitz in a north-westerly direction. The 23 meter high viaduct of the Dresden – Chemnitz railway line has been running over the Bachtal here since 1862 . It takes its further course on the southwestern edge of the Tharandt forest . Here it flows through the Tännichtgrund , a deep forest valley between the actual Tharandt forest and the forested ridge of the Tännicht in front of it. The Colmnitzbach passes the Lips-Tullian rock and the geographic center of Saxony . From 1921 to 1971 the narrow-gauge railway Klingenberg-Colmnitz-Oberdittmannsdorf ran here . At the southern edge of Naundorf (near Freiberg) it flows into the Bobritzsch .
On 12./13. In August 2002 the Colmnitz flood caused considerable damage to the villages.
