The Columbia Mountains are an imposing group of mostly ice-free rock peaks , ridges and nunatakkers of the Palmerland in the south of the Antarctic Peninsula . They are 32 km southeast of the Eternity Range near the eastern edge of the Dyer Plateau .

The United States Geological Survey mapped the mountain in 1974. The Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names renamed it in 1976 after the Columbia University in New York City whose geologists the area around in the 1960s and 1970s Inselbogen Scotia Ridge in the Scotia Sea investigated.
