The Colvocoresses Bay is a 50 km wide bay on the Budd Coast of the East Antarctic Wilke country . It lies at right angles between the mainland and the Williamson Glacier . Tongues of glaciers and icebergs from the Williamson and Whittle glaciers occupy the bay.
The American cartographer Gardner Dean Blodgett (* 1925) mapped it in 1955 using aerial photographs of Operation Highjump (1946–1947). The Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names named the bay in 1955 after George Musalas Colvocoresses (1813–1872), midshipman of the sloop USS Vincennes , flagship of the United States Exploring Expedition (1838–1842) under the direction of the US polar explorer Charles Wilkes .
