Neudorf bei Ebensfeld (officially: Neudorf b.Ebensfeld ) is a district of the Upper Franconian market of Ebensfeld in the Lichtenfels district .

geography

The village is located about four kilometers west of Ebensfeld on a ridge between Main Valley and Itzgrund . It belongs to the Banzgau , a long triangle between the Itz and the Main, south of Banz Monastery .

history

Neudorf was mentioned for the first time around 1270 in the case of the tenth income of the Würzburg Dompropstei in "Nuvendorf". The village emerged as a re-establishment of the western village of Rappoldsrode, which was abandoned by its residents.

In 1801 there were eight households in the place. The Bamberg Dompropstei was the ruler of the bailiwick, village and community . In 1862 Neudorf was incorporated into the newly created Bavarian District Office Staffelstein . The village belonged to the rural community of Messenfeld in the district of Staffelstein .

In 1871 Neudorf had 56 inhabitants and 41 buildings. The Catholic school was in Birkach, 1.5 kilometers away, and the church was in Döringstadt, two kilometers away . In 1900 the places of the rural community of Messenfeld covered an area of ​​350.23 hectares, 138 inhabitants, of whom 136 were Catholic, and 25 residential buildings. 57 people lived in Neudorf in 9 residential buildings and in 1925 51 people lived in 8 residential buildings. In 1950 Neudorf had 77 residents and 7 residential buildings. In 1970 the hamlet had 45 inhabitants and in 1987 a total of 38 inhabitants and 7 residential buildings with 7 apartments.

On July 1, 1972, the Staffelstein district was dissolved. Neudorf was incorporated into the Lichtenfels district and Ebensfeld was added as part of the municipality. In 1985 the place became the national winner in the competition " Our village should be more beautiful - our village has a future ".

Attractions

The local Catholic chapel Herz Jesu belongs to the parish of Döringstadt. The neo-Gothic sandstone block building was consecrated in 1899. The interior furnishings include the ceiling painting Herz Jesu, a work by the Staffelstein artist Hans Theodor Stengel.
