The Combin de Corbassière ( 3716 m above sea level ) is a mountain west of the Corbassière glacier in the Valais Alps in Switzerland . The summit is just over 4½ kilometers north of the Grand Combin ( 4314 m above sea level ) and offers an informative view of the north side of this mountain. 1¼ kilometers northwest of the Combin de Corbassière is the Petit Combin ( 3672 m above sea level ).
Routes
The easiest route leads from the Panossiere hut first south on the east bank of the Corbassière glacier to the remains of the old hut. Then you cross the glacier in a south-westerly direction and pass the crevice zone between 2800 and 2900 meters on the orographic left edge of the glacier. Further on in a south-south-westerly direction you come to the flatter glacier area south of P.3156. Now turn to the north-west and over the glacier slopes, finally steep and over some light rocks with a lot of rubble, you reach one of the notches west ( 3563 m above sea level ) or east ( 3564 m above sea level ) of the Col de Corbassière. The eastern variant is shorter and steeper, from the western notch you also have to cross the firn-covered P.3604. The summit is now reached via the upper west ridge, over firn and rubble. This climb from the Panossiere hut takes about four hours. A variant of the normal route is the ascent over the south ridge, which can be cheaper depending on the conditions, but requires some climbing ( II ).
The Petit Combin, the Combin de Corbassiere and the Grand Combin can be hiked as part of a multi-day trekking tour "Tour des Combins".
