The Petit Combin is 3663 m above sea level. M. high peak on the northern edge of the Grand Combin group in the Valais Alps . On some maps the altitude is also indicated at 3672 m .
The Petit Combin lies between the Corbassière glacier in the east and the Val d'Entremont valley in the west, on the border between the municipalities of Bagnes and Liddes . The summit is delimited by steep glaciers in the north and east (Petit-Combin glaciers and Follâts glaciers) and by the steep cliffs of the Aiguilles-de-Boveire in the west. The terrain is gentler towards the south to the Combin de Corbassière ( 3716 m above sea level ).
The Petit Combin is a popular glacier tour in summer and winter. The normal ascent route ( SAC scale : ZS ≈ UIAA scale: III) goes from Fionnay ( 1490 m above sea level ) in the Val de Bagnes , via the François-Xavier Bagnoud hut (former Panossière hut, 2645 m above sea level ) and the Corbassière glacier , with the final ascent from the southeast. The summit is also a permitted helipad.
