Communium interpretes dolorum

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The encyclical Communium interpretes dolorum (April 15, 1945) by Pope Pius XII. , shortly before the end of the Second World War , there was a "call for peace prayer in the month of May".

Pius XII. lamented the great suffering and pain that had been spread over the world. He expresses his hope that the bloody and ugly battles will soon come to an end. He calls for prayer for peace, and since the month of May was consecrated to the Blessed Mother Mary, this month is also suitable for imploring the intercession of the Virgin Mary. He calls on humanity:

"We must seek a true and sincere peace that may end this disastrous and damned conflict quickly."

He also calls for prayer for the prisoners and displaced persons, the injured and the sick, and asks that they may return to their families very soon.
