The encyclical Quemadmodum (Latin: In what way) was published on January 6, 1946 by Pope Pius XII. composed. He writes "on the concern of the needy children of the world".

After looking back on the terrible world war , he lamented the great suffering of the people, which had spread over the whole world, he describes the importance and the plight of children. The children, he writes, suffer from cold, hunger and illness and they lack food, clothing and protection. The current aid, called Pius XII. as inadequate and urges everyone to make every effort so that the children can be helped.

He ordered that in every diocese a certain day be offered for prayer for the children in need and pointed out that this was also a problem for society and especially for Christians, then he called for fraternity and cited:

"Truly I say to you: As much as you have done to a little one, of these my brothers, you have done to me ( Mt 25.40  EU )."

In conclusion, he calls for Christian duty and calls on all institutions, facilities and organizations to address this problem, especially those people who would live in wealth and luxury.
