Optatissima pax

With the peace encyclical Optatissima pax ( Latin : The most desirable peace ) of December 18, 1947, Pope Pius XII. his efforts for peace continued. He called on the Catholic Church to public prayers for reconciliation between peoples.

The key message is:

"Freedom can only flourish where law and order prevail and the respect for the dignity of the individual is again strong and effective ... In the meantime, millions of people still live under arbitrariness and coercion ... May the dark forces of decomposition today, too, Rift through discord and destruction, the more overwhelming should the commitment of Christians, their forces of unity, order and peace have ... "
