The Company Homunculus was a former Austrian dance and theater ensemble .

history

The company Homunculus was founded in Vienna in 1981 by the choreographer and dance teacher Manfred Aichinger . Under Aichinger, choreographies and short works were created under the joint artistic direction with Nikolaus Selimov . The repertoire of the Company Homunculus in 2011 comprised 43 choreographies that were not only performed at the Volksoper , Tanzquartier Wien or KosmosTheater , but also at guest performances in Germany , Russia , Cyprus and Serbia .

National and international guest choreographers have been invited since the 2002/2003 season, including Nikolaus Adler , Bernd Roger Bienert , Nicole Caccivio, Elena Lupták and Andrea Stotter, who provided world premieres for the Company Homunculus. The artistic work of the Company Homunculus is subsidized by the cultural department of the City of Vienna and the Federal Ministry for Education, Art and Culture .

The theater was dissolved with its 30th anniversary in 2011.

  • 1990: Prize for Art and Culture from the Adolf Schärf Fund for the promotion of science and art
  • 1998: OE Hasse Prize 1996/97 of the Berlin Academy of the Arts for the choreography Voices of Dead Friends by Nikolaus Selimov
  • 2003: Special prize of the jury of the Austrian dance production prize to Manfred Aichinger and Nikolaus Selimov
  • 2008: Performance award from the Federal Ministry for Education, Art and Culture for the choreography Fight Night by Karin Steinbrugger and Martina Haager
