Company Train

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

A company train is a company's own block train .

The Company Train is used by a company to transport its own goods or goods intended only for them in their own or only rented trains . As a rule, company trains do not handle occasional or individual transports, but more or less frequent relations with regularly large loading units between fixed loading and unloading locations. Company trains are also worth considering if there are capacity problems with trucks , shipping or other trains.

The operators in Europe see the possibility of cost-reduced transports for third railway companies after the opening of the formerly and partly still today state railway lines . You negotiate your own contracts for the use of the railways with the railway infrastructure companies . This is worthwhile for both sides if the company trains have a minimum number of journeys in the period under consideration and a minimum of freight has to be transported.

Examples

  • The English, Welsh & Scottish Railway (EWS) designates a company-owned train that is only used internally and consists of a conference car, a sleeping car and a dining car as well as a control car for pushing operations, also known as the "Company Train" (internally "CoT").
