Cong Su

Cong Su ( Chinese  蘇 聰 , Pinyin Sū Cōng ; * 1957 in Tianjin ) is a German composer , musician and professor at the Baden-Württemberg Film Academy of Chinese origin.

Life

Cong Su studied from 1978 to 1982 at the Central Conservatory of Music (中央 音乐 学院) in Beijing . He then moved to Germany, where he studied music theory, music analysis, film music and ballet music at the Munich University of Music and Theater from 1982 to 1985. After graduating, he was given a teaching position at the University of Augsburg . From 1989 to 1991 he taught again in Munich and has been a professor at the Baden-Württemberg Film Academy since 1991 . The film composer Jens Grötzschel was one of his students .

Together with David Byrne and Ryūichi Sakamoto , he won the Oscar for best film music , a Golden Globe for best film music and a Grammy for the score for Bernardo Bertolucci's monumental film The Last Emperor .
