Conny Rux (born November 26, 1925 in Berlin ; † January 12, 1995 ) was a German boxer .

career

Conny Rux grew up in Berlin and started boxing as a teenager. By the time he was called up, he had completed twenty amateur fights, of which he won 17. After wartime and imprisonment, he played his first professional light heavyweight fight on May 5, 1946. By his retirement in 1952 he had fought 50 fights, with 37 wins, six draws and six losses. He became German light heavyweight champion in 1949 by defeating Richard Vogt in Hamburg and European champion in 1952 by defeating the Dutchman Willy Schagen . Conny Rux defeated the entire German light heavyweight elite of the time, such as Richard Vogt, Dieter Hucks , Jean Kreitz , Heinz Seidler and Adolf Kleinholdermann . He was also not afraid to compete against heavyweights and won against Walter Neusel , Heinz Seelisch, Lloyd Marshall, USA and boxed against Heinz Neuhaus , the German heavyweight European champion, in a draw. Against the American Gene "Tiger" Jones, who knocked out the German heavyweight elite one after the other in 1949 and 1950, he too lost on August 19, 1950 by knockout

On September 7, 1952 he lost to the Belgian ex-European heavyweight champion Karel Sys by knockout in the third round. After this fight, he announced his retirement from boxing at the age of only 27.

Conny Rux, tall, blond, handsome, was married to actress Ada Chekhowa from 1950 ; together they had their son Mischa, who died in 2003. After his resignation, Conny Rux fought as a " catcher " and acted as an actor in several films, including the crime novels Piccadilly twelve o'clock and Das Wirtshaus von Dartmoor .
