Conor Sammon (born November 6, 1986 in Dublin ) is an Irish football player .

Career

UCD and Derry City

Conor Sammon began his playing career in 2005 with the Irish first division club U.CD After three seasons in the first division, Sammon moved to league rivals Derry City on December 8, 2007 . In the 2008 season he scored three goals in sixteen league games before leaving Derry after just half a year.

FC Kilmarnock and Wigan Athletic

On July 28, 2008, Conor Sammon signed a three-year contract with the Scottish first division club FC Kilmarnock . In his first two seasons in the Scottish Premier League he did not come into its own as hoped and only scored one league goal each time. In the 2010/11 season , Sammon was able to expand his goal yield to fifteen league goals.

The attacker, who was also courted by other English clubs, moved to the first division side Wigan Athletic on January 31, 2011 . On March 5, 2011, he made his debut in a 1-0 defeat at Manchester City in the 2010/11 Premier League . After relegation with Wigan, Sammon, who was often used as a substitute, played twenty-five league games in the 2011/12 Premier League but remained without a hit.

Derby County

On August 20, 2012, the 25-year-old attacker was committed by the English second division club Derby County .

Irish national team

The previously already used in the U-21 selection Conor Sammon made his debut on February 6, 2013 in a 2-0 home win over Poland in the Irish national team . In March 2013, two more appearances followed in qualifying for the 2014 World Cup against Sweden and Austria.
