Conrad Cappell

Conrad Cappell (born May 26, 1947 in Vacha ) is a retired German diplomat and most recently worked as the German Consul General in Ho Chi Minh City .

Life

After graduating from high school , Cappell studied law from 1966 to 1971 at the Free University of Berlin and the Ruprecht-Karls-University of Heidelberg , which he completed in 1971 with the first state examination in law. After the legal traineeship that followed, he passed the second state examination in law in 1974 and was then a consultant in the state government of Baden-Württemberg until 1980 .

In 1980 Cappell joined the Foreign Service and, after passing the career test for the higher civil service, was employed in 1982 as a Legation Councilor at the embassy in South Korea and then from 1986 and 1989 as a consultant at the Foreign Office in Bonn . After he became Counselor at the Embassy in the Philippines and then Head of the Legal and Consular Department of the Embassy in Hungary in 1993 , he was Head of the Visa Unit at the Foreign Office between 1996 and 2000 . From 2000 to 2004, Cappell was consul general in Dubai and then ambassador to Brunei .

From August 2008 until his retirement in March 2013, Conrad Cappell was Consul General in Ho Chi Minh City ( Vietnam ).

Cappell is married and has one child.
