Constanze Klaue

Constanze Klaue (born August 10, 1985 in East Berlin ) is a German filmmaker , author and jazz singer. She also became known under her pseudonym Erna Rot.

Career

Constanze Klaue grew up in Berlin and Brandenburg . After graduating from high school, she first studied literature at the TU Dresden and then jazz singing with Efrat Alony and Romy Camerun . Under her pseudonym Erna Rot , she published German-language jazz music and toured Germany.

From 2014 to 2020 she studied directing and screenwriting at the Art Academy for Media in Cologne . Her graduation film Lychen 92 premiered at the Max Ophüls Prize film festival in January 2020 and won the award for best medium-length film . Lychen 92 addresses the post-reunification period in East Germany, which Constanze Klaue deals with again and again in all of her works. Her essay Our Home, written on the 25th anniversary of German unity, was awarded by the Federal Ministry of the Interior and later published in a collection.

Her novel Mops, of all things, will be published in autumn 2020 . at dtv-Verlag , which was created during a working grant from the Academy for Children's Media and for which she won the Baumhaus-Boje-B.Water-Medienpreis in 2018.

Constanze Klaue lives as a freelance writer and filmmaker in Berlin .
