Contact Trio

The Contact Trio was a jazz-rock group from the Ruhr area that experimented with new forms of expression from 1970 to 1984 in the border area between jazz, rock and free jazz. The band was one of the first progressive, professional jazz groups in the area and released 4 LPs.

history

The founding members of the group included the clarinetist Theo Jörgensmann , the bassist Alois Kott and the drummer Michael Jüllich . Initially, the trio performed mainly in southern Germany and Switzerland. Theo Jörgensmann played with the trio from 1970 to 1973. When he left, the guitarist Evert Brettschneider joined the group. Michael Jüllich left the band in the early 1980s. The drummer Peter Eisold took his place . The Contact Trio played u. a. 1974 at the Frankfurt Jazz Festival and 1981 at the Berlin Jazz Days and gave concerts in collaboration with the Goethe Institute .

Since 2015 there has been a new edition of the band as Contact 4tett, to which the former soloists of the band Theo Jörgensmann and Evert Brettschneider belong. Additions include Kai Kanthak (bass) and Achim Jaroschek (drums). Since August 2017 the Contact 4tett has a new drummer with Bernd Oezsevim .
