Carl Gustav Rodde
Carl Gustav Rodde , also Karl Gustav Rodde (born August 29, 1830 in Danzig ; † March 1, 1906 in Groß-Lichterfelde near Berlin ), was a German vedute and landscape painter from the Düsseldorf School .
Life
Rodde began his artistic career by studying at the Danzig Art and Trade School with Johann Karl Schultz . In 1852 Rodde moved to the Düsseldorf Art Academy , where he deepened landscape painting until 1857. There he was a student of Johann Wilhelm Schirmer from 1852 to 1854 , and his successor Hans Fredrik Gude taught him from 1855 to 1857 . From 1856 to 1858 he was a member of the Malkasten artists' association . After training in Düsseldorf , he spent a time in Munich in 1857 . From 1858 to 1861 he then went on a trip to Italy , where he married an Italian in 1860. Later he worked - interrupted by several trips to his wife's home country - in Weimar , Danzig, Düsseldorf and Berlin.
