season 1

The first broadcast of the first season was from May 27 to August 5, 2012 on the Canadian television channel Showcase to see. The German-language premiere broadcast of the German pay-TV transmitter RTL Crime from February 13 to April 17, 2013.

Future: When the execution is scheduled, the delinquents can escape the execution using a time portal . But Kiera is also caught in the suction and everyone ends up unplanned in 2012 instead of, as planned, in 2071. The group disperses. Not knowing what happened, Kiera tries to orientate herself. Through her CMR, she has an acoustic connection to the 17-year-old Alec Sadler. From now on, he will help her with the investigation with his computer skills and advice on current cultures and customs . Kiera finds the trail of the injured engineer Lucas Ingram, responsible for the technical implementation of the time travel, and provides him. The two are disturbed by a patrol police patrol and Lucas is arrested. During the crime scene investigation of the time travelers' "landing field", Kiera meets the investigating detective Carlos Fonnegra and poses as a detective from Portland. Both investigate together and later find and kill three of the escaped in a bank robbery. At the same time as the bank robbery, the rest of the group freed Lucas Ingram in a brutal shootout in the police station . During internal research into Kiera's origin, she gets into trouble, but Alec can help her out via the radio link of the CMR and falsified data. After Ingram was freed, the group now decides to travel to the year 2071 with the help of a second time portal. When they want to start the project, Matthew Kellogg separates from the group. The others move on to a power station without him, where they believe they can find the amount of electricity they need for the time jump. However, the attempt fails due to insufficient performance. The resulting overload of the power grid leads to a power outage across the city. Kiera, who had previously been temporarily arrested due to inconsistencies in her specified résumé, remains stuck with Carlos in the station's elevator. With the help of her technologically advanced suit, she can free herself from the future, overwhelm Carlos and flee in order to follow the trail of the group. To get a more powerful power source, they kidnap a professor who has it in his laboratory. By taking a little hostage, Kiera can force the group to release the professor and take them back into the future as well. Before that, she had set a track on the professor's wife's cell phone so that Carlos could follow her. But even this leap in time fails. The professor is freed and Kiera arrested.During the crime scene investigation, part of the time travel device is seized and taken to the police evidence chamber with the other evidence . By feeding in falsified data from Alec, the police now assume that Kiera is undercover for the FBI and she is asked again for assistance, Carlos is to become her partner.

Kiera remembers an operation in the future in which she and a team dig up a Liber8 hiding place and can take Sonya Valentine, the “Queen of Hearts” of the group, into custody. At present, Kiera is providing the task force with details of Liber8 members, such as the names, occupations and skills of the members. The leader of the group, Travis, was seriously injured in the last time jump attempt and is dying. On Alec's advice, Kiera bought a bluetooth headset so as not to attract attention when she was talking to him. As she is setting it up in a diner, Kellogg sits down at her table and offers to help her find Liber8. He explains that she should let him live in peace in the present - in return he will keep her back from Liber8. When Fonnegra comes by, Kellogg hastily leaves the diner. Later, the two policemen go to a morgue: There two dead died with the same unusual wound on the back of the head. As the viewer learns, Sonya has at least one of the two attached and triggered the device responsible for the wounds from the future. Kiera can partly help with her medical knowledge on the state of the future and it is now assumed that a serial perpetrator removes part of the cortex from the victims. Later it becomes clear that a serum, a kind of super steroid , is obtained from it. Apparently Liber8 wants to use this serum to heal Travis. When investigating the connections between the two dead, Kiera and Fonnegra come across a sperm bank as a common factor. When evaluating the DNA markers, you will find even more people who have the same markers as the victims. As you go through this list, you come across a student who would be eligible. In order to forestall Liber8, the two of them seek him out at the university, but it soon becomes clear that this is a trap, as the person they are looking for does not exist. In search of the student, Fonnegra, who doesn't yet know it's a trap, comes across Kellogg and Chen from Liber8, and after a shootout, Chen and Fonnegra go into a duel. Kellogg tries to sneak away, but is caught outside by Kiera and given a marker from her weapon that is active in his bloodstream for 24 hours. Chen has meanwhile been able to incapacitate Fonnegra and is about to break his neck when Kiera joins them and after a second fight, Chen is electrocuted from Kiera's fingerprint-protected weapon just as he is about to fire it. Kellogg goes back to the shelter, but there you can see the marker and when Kiera arrives there later, all except the tied up Kellogg are gone. Kellogg again emphasizes his willingness to work together and so Kiera frees him. The two narrowly escape a bomb, as Kiera remembers how a booby trap was installed when Sonya's capture in the future. Back in the police evidence chamber, she stole the seized part of the time travel device, without which Liber8 would not be able to travel back to the future.

Kiera is interrupted by a power failure while applying makeup. At that moment, Fonnegra calls her to a crime scene with a corpse. Apparently the work of Liber8 that killed Professor Ames. The unknown weapon penetrated not only the body, but also the five floors below. A time portal opens at a construction site and Kagame, the Liber8 leader, comes through and remains unconscious. Kellogg has now become rich through his future knowledge through stock market transactions and buys his ancestors' house. Unaware of Kagame's new arrival, Liber8 brutally conquers the marijuana laboratory of two dealers and breeders. Ames assistant Shane is interrogated by Kiera and Fonnegra. It turns out that Ames and Shane were working on an antimatter machine and all the backup files are gone. Both consider him suspicious, but cannot prove anything and release him. Meanwhile, Kagame wakes up from his coma in the hospital and flees. Liber8 becomes aware of him through a television report about his escape and they make their way to the agreed meeting point, a Buddhist meditation temple. Kiera and Fonnegra find out about Ames' former business partner Melissa through an activist group, but at first cannot prove anything to her. In the precinct, Kiera sees Kagame's escape message on television and also sets out to intercept him at the temple, before Liber8. She succeeds in doing this, but the group presses Kagame free through a child abduction. Evidence of Shane and Melissa's involvement in the murder grows. Kiera wants to arrest Melissa at the airport and receives a hard drive with the backup files from her. After a conversation between the two it turns out that Melissa - she changes her last name after their imminent marriage - will found a company in the future that produces clean energy and so Kiera lets her fly with the hard drive.

Future: Kiera and her team prepare for an attack by Liber8. They learned that three attacks are planned. Present: Kagame presents his new plans to the group. He changes the direction of actions away from violence, towards strategy and knowledge. They want to attack Kiera, who keeps foiling her plans. Alec continues to work on a way to fix Kiera's suit, but it turns out to be more difficult than expected. A young woman named Lilly Jones is killed. Lilly was Kiera's grandmother's name, but this woman was not related to her. Kellogg reappears on Liber8. Kagame strongly condemns the group's bombing campaign against Kellogg (episode 01/03). Kellogg and Kiera meet and Kellogg tells her that Liber8 is planning to wipe her family out ( grandfather paradox ). Shortly after leaving the restaurant, Sonya assaults and injures her in passing. Sonya escapes with the help of Garza in a waiting getaway car, but has taken a DNA sample from Kiera so that the group can track down Kiera's real grandmother. Kiera has found it in the meantime and is bringing it to safety. Your car is rammed and attacked by Liber8. They are saved by a patrol in time and Kiera finds out that her teenage grandmother is pregnant. Kagame finds out Kellogg's double game and has his grandmother kidnapped. They want to get to Kiera through an exchange between the two “grandmothers”. This drafts a plan to thwart this exchange. When Kellog shows up for an exchange, he doesn't have Kiera's grandmother with him, but Kagame's mother - who is currently pregnant with him. A sniper, Travis, injures Kellogg's grandmother, she dies on the spot, but Kellogg stays alive and brings Lilly and her friend to safety.

Future: Kiera's unit is investigating the aftermath of riots and looting allegedly instigated by Liber8. It turns out that the company "Piron" did not distribute food as planned. Present: Fonnegra orders Kiera to demonstrate for more transparency in business transactions . Alec's step-brother Julian takes part in this demo as a hooded left- wing radical and vandalizes the headquarters of the global corporation "Exotrol". Liber8 uses this to bring the CEO Sherman into her power. Liber8 has her read a video of a confession of guilt on the Internet. In a later video, Sherman orders the company to provide $ 20 million as a ransom . Meanwhile , Alec hacked into various surveillance systems, was able to track down the leader of the radical left, Francis Hall, and passed this information on to Kiera. After his arrest, he is brought to a confession with a truth serum during interrogation by Kiera . "Exotrol" is instructed to distribute the ransom among the demonstrators. In a new video, Kagame calls on Internet users to vote on the life or death of Sherman. Meanwhile, Kellogg rummages through Kiera's apartment and finds the missing piece of the time portal that Kiera had taken (episode 3). Frank, the head of security at "Exotrol", comes under suspicion. He escapes arrest by escaping, but can be caught by Kiera. Alec can find the Liber8 server and with it the address. When the team arrives, Liber8 has disappeared, only Sherman was left with a bomb around his neck. The timer is for three minutes and will kill her if she doesn't tell the truth. Fearing for her life, she confesses that she and the board of directors cheated the “Exotrols” employees out of their pension. They used the economic crisis of 2010 to tell the employees that the pension fund had become worthless. Kiera and Carlos drive to "Exotrol" and confront board member Chu with Frank's admission that he is the actual planner of the kidnapping. Chu is arrested for fraud and kidnapping. Future: Kiera tells her husband about today's mission. As a member of the Senate, he apparently knew about the plans of "Piron" to hoard food in order to push prices up. She is disappointed with his attitude and he accuses her of “sounding almost like a Liber8 terrorist ”.

It is the birthday of Kiera's son Sam when the police chief Inspector Dillon is replaced by Inspector Nora Harris in order to identify the traitor in the ranks of the VPD. This also includes questioning everyone, including Agent Gardiner. When she is questioned, the subject of family and son comes up again, so that she attacks Gardiner and a virtual psychologist is automatically activated. This deactivates the CPS, which she urgently needs so that Alec creates the appropriate documents for the statements made by Kiera. In addition, she has to destroy various evidence for Betty, which could incriminate Kiera and Dillon, and must also be able to camouflage herself. After Kiera was able to speak with a virtual image of her son, and the psychologist realized that a large part of the problem is time travel, he allows access to the CPS again so that they can destroy the incriminating evidence.

Kellog previously showed Alec the laboratory in which the two could work, which is unsafe at first. Eventually he agrees and then uses the lab when Kiera asks him to help confirm her background.
