Cooper Islands

The Cooper Islands are a small group of islands in the mouth of Chicago Harbor on the northeast side of Attu , the largest of the Near Islands in the Aleutian Islands . The islands were discovered in July 1855 on the North Pacific Surveying Expedition by Lt. William Gibson , USN , named after the schooner USS Fenimore Cooper .
