The Semichi Islands form a group of islands within the Alëuts on the southern edge of the North Pacific Bering Sea .

geography

The group of islands belonging to Alaska ( USA ) is located southeast of Attu and northeast of Agattu Island , with which they together form the archipelago of the Near Islands . Named islands in the group include, from west to east, Alaid Island , Nizki Island , Hammerhead Island , Lotus Island, and Shemya Island .

Wildlife

After being extinct here for over a hundred years, the sea ​​otter returned to the Semichi Islands in the early 1990s. In 1994 around 400 animals were counted here, in 1997 only 100.
