Loaf Island is a small island in the Near Islands , a group of islands in the far west of the Aleutian Islands , Alaska . Loaf Island is located in Massacre Bay on the southeast side of Attu . It is located just 25 meters east of Barbara Point , which the Navy Cove in the north of the Pyramid Cove separates the south. It is 680 meters long, a maximum of 315 meters wide and measures around 15 hectares in area. It was named during the US Army occupation of Attu in World War II .
