Copley Township is one of nine townships of Summit County , Ohio , United States . The 2000 census found 13,641 people in the township.

history

Major George Croghan came to the area during the British-American War in 1813 and camped on what is now Smith Road before moving west. One of his soldiers was Jonah Turner from Pennsylvania , who decided to return to the area later to cultivate the land if he survived the war. In 1814 Jonah Turner became the first settler in what would later become Copley Township.
