She is the spokesperson for disability policy and civil affairs for the Bündnis 90 / Die Grünen parliamentary group.

In the 19th German Bundestag she is the chairwoman of her parliamentary group in the Petitions Committee and a full member of the Committee on Labor and Social Affairs .

Political positions

A significant part of Corinna Rüffer's work is focused on the fields of disability policy, so she appeared as the initiator of several parliamentary initiatives on topics such as participation , equality for disabled people , the UN disability rights convention and inclusion .

Rüffer spoke out to Deutschlandfunk in favor of changes to the Federal Participation Act , particularly with regard to the right to vote for disabled people, and referred to the fact that disabled people have so far been clearly underrepresented in the Bundestag.

Rüffer is considered a critic of prenatal diagnostics and has repeatedly criticized the inclination of the incumbent federal government to deal with the ethical questions of legalization and the inclusion of non-invasive genetic diagnostics in the catalog of services of the statutory health insurance companies . In a press release in response to a corresponding small question from 158 MPs, she emphasized that the early diagnosis enables selective termination of pregnancy through the deadline regulation , as well as according to criteria such as the gender of the child. At a press conference she stated that instead of “using more and more tests to create the impression that you have control over what kind of child you are having”, the discussion about early genetic diagnostics is about appreciating diversity. She also criticized the attitude of the Protestant Church , which had spoken out in favor of funding the tests as a standard benefit: “The EKD takes an oath of disclosure if it believes that it cannot influence a social 'mentality change' - also in dealing with disabilities - via normative requirements can. From a church I actually expect clear social values and an appreciative attitude towards human life in all its forms. ”In an interview with the Rheinische Post , Rüffer, who is herself the mother of a daughter with trisomy 21 , explained a woman's decision to have a child must “be independent of the question of whether the child will be disabled or not. Otherwise we will have discrimination . "
