Cornelius Küpper
Cornelius Küpper (born October 9, 1991 in Werne an der Lippe ) is a German sports journalist and football commentator .
Education & career
Küpper already took his first steps in the media business as a MAZ editor at LIGA total! and editorial assistant at Sky . Internships at FOCUS Online , Radio Dresden and in the public relations department of Borussia Dortmund followed . After graduating from high school in 2011, he completed a speaker training course at the Akademie Deutsche POP . From 2012 he took a bachelor's degree in sports journalism and sports management at the media academy in Munich and Mittweida. He successfully completed his studies in 2015.
During this time, Küpper was already working as a freelance filmmaker and contributor. His clients included "BVBtotal!" (Now BVB-TV) and DFL Digital Sports , for which he still works today and creates videos as part of the Bundesliga foreign marketing.
In the summer of 2016, he gained his first experience as a commentator on live football matches at the sports streaming service DAZN . Here his voice could be heard in Europe's top leagues such as the Spanish LaLiga , the Italian Serie A or the English Premier League .
When the Cologne-based commercial broadcaster RTL secured a partial package of the broadcasting rights for the Bundesliga, Küpper was part of the team of contributors for the weekly program “100% Bundesliga” on Nitro from the start . Since 2018 he has regularly commented on summaries in the Europa League for RTL .
On November 28, 2019, Cornelius Küpper celebrated his debut as a live commentator in the main program at the Europa League match between Arsenal FC and Eintracht Frankfurt (1: 2). Sport Bild wrote afterwards: "Cornelius Küpper is holding back on his prime-time debut, but also delivers entertaining: 'Air sovereignty and Kamada, that just doesn't fit.'"
Private life
Cornelius Küpper comes from a family of journalists. He is the son of the German football commentator Hans Georg Küpper , brother Alexander works as a commentator and contributor for MDR and Magenta Sport . His sister Katharina is a volunteer at Westfälischer Anzeiger.
At the age of five he started playing football at MTV Pfaffenhofen in the F-youth and went through all age groups there.
