Correa is a plant genus of the family of the Rutaceae (Rutaceae). The eleven species are mainlynative tosoutheast Australia and were named in 1798 by Henry Charles Andrews after the Portuguese botanist José Francisco Corrêa da Serra (1751-1823).

description

The species of the genus Correa are shrubs or small trees . Their hair consists of star-shaped trichomes . The sepals are fused together. The stamens are arranged in two circles ( diplostemon ) and are completely fertile, the stamens are separated from each other. The flower base is eight-fold lobed.

The seeds have a centrally located and elliptically shaped hilum , the seed suture is placed at the base. The inward (ventral) endocarp is thick and persistent.

The base chromosome number is n = 16.

Occurrence

The species occur in southeastern Australia, Tasmania and southeastern Western Australia . They grow in forests and heaths.
