Cort Jacobsen

Cort Svend Egon Jacobsen (born March 26, 1911 in Copenhagen , † May 3, 1967 ) was a Danish painter .

Life

Jacobsen was the son of the mason Louis Pio Jacobsen and Martha-Marie Hansen. On November 29, 1947, he married Inge Marie Nyemann (1911–1995), daughter of the painter Larsine Christiane Paulsen alias Jane Nyemann, in Copenhagen.

Jacobsen was a self-taught painter . He is known for numerous powerful and melancholy city scenes from Copenhagen, where he mainly portrayed poor people at work. He is also known for numerous funeral and cemetery pictures .
