Costantino Bernasconi (born April 11, 1820 in Chiasso ; † June 20, 1902 ) was a Swiss politician , national councilor , councilor of the Ticino FDP radicals and colonel in the Swiss army .

Life

Costantino Bernaconi was born the son of the landowner Luigi von Chiasso and Carolina Nolfi. He studied law at the University of Modena . Afterwards he returned to Chiasso, where he worked as a lawyer and notary. From 1852 to 1857 he was mayor of Chiasso and remained on the local council until 1877.

As a politician, he was the Ticino cantonal parliament in 1853 and from 1893 to 1902 and from 1863 to 1872 and 1884-1893 National Council , and from 1874 to 1875 the Council of States . In autumn 1890 he took part in the conference convened by the federal authorities for peace between the Ticino parties in Bern . In 1871 he became a colonel in the Swiss Army .

With the sculptor Vincenzo Vela , the poet Giovanni B. Buzzi and Augusto Mordasini , he was one of the first advocates of cremation in the canton of Ticino . He was one of the concessionaires on the Chiasso – Lugano – Bellinzona railway line (1856).
