Costantino Ciervo (* 1961 in Naples ) is an Italian artist living in Germany .

Life

Costantino Ciervo grew up in Naples . From 1980 to 1982 he studied economics and politics at the University of Economics and Commerce in Naples. After dropping out of his studies, he began to work as a freelance artist. In 1983 he taught screen printing and photomechanics in the juvenile prison on the island of Nisida in the Gulf of Naples. In 1984 he moved to Berlin and in 1988 began studying philosophy and art studies at the Technical University of Berlin. In 1993 he took part in the Venice Biennale . Costantino Ciervo is a member of the Association of German Artists . He lives and works in Berlin.

In his video installations, Ciervo deals with the being of human beings in today's society , the prevailing economic systems and the rapid regional and global developments and possible liberation strategies. It deals with current topics such as the upheavals in the field of science , technological and genetic research , informatics and communication technology, terrorism , ethics and complexity.

In 2016 his participatory long-term art project “SendProtest!” Started with a mobile app and internet archive. Some of his installations and video sculptures as well as the “SendProtest” archive can be seen permanently in the Museum Fluxus Plus in Potsdam.
