Servet Ahmet Golbol (* 1970 in Antakya , Turkey ) is a German-Turkish film director and screenwriter.

Life

Golbol is a son of Turkish immigrants. After graduating from high school in Ravensburg , he studied film studies in Mainz and later began studying art at the same time as film / video at the Mainz Art Academy. He graduated with the short film An Eve . He then completed postgraduate studies at the Art Academy for Media (KHM). He received his diploma there with the script "Sara's Lied".

According to FBW, his documentary film Two halves are not a whole (2008) is “an examination of identities, a sense of belonging, death and time - but above all a plea for tolerance” and was given the title “particularly valuable”.

The soundtrack of the film, composed by the band Quadro Nuevo, is worth mentioning. Without the usual marketing measures, the CD achieved gold status in sales. He has been close friends with the members of the band ever since.

This was followed by artist portraits of cellist Daniel Müller-Schott and violinist Viviane Hagner for 3sat .

Together with Veit Helmer , Golbol also wrote scripts for other films. The film Absurdistan directed by Helmer , in whose script he was involved, won a. a. the special prize of the film jury of the Bavarian Film Prize.

With the documentary film Rutenkinder , he shot his second "Heimatfilm" after Two half lives are not a whole, this time in Germany. The subject was more cheerful this time. The film portrays the inhabitants of the Upper Swabian Ravensburg with a loving smile when they celebrate their annual rod festival. He has had a close friendship with the musicians of the band Quadro Nuevo since the film music for Two Half Lives are not a whole . Consequently, they decided to shoot the road movie "Reise nach Batumi" about the band together and to document the creation of the CD " Grand Voyage ". For this he accompanied her on a wild tour through the Balkans and around half the world. In addition, a concert recording was made in the Prinzregententheater in Munich as well as a music video.

In 2011 he also started his academic career as a lecturer for film at the University of Trier in the Intermedia Design department. He has been a full professor there since the 2017/2018 winter semester.

At the same time he staged a play about Frankenstein and Oppenheimer for the Stuttgart theater company Lokstoff for the compilation "Prometheus Reloaded 6.0", which premiered on November 2nd, 2011 on the occasion of the state exhibition "Weltsichten" in the Lindenmuseum in Stuttgart. After his theater engagement and a trip to the opera with Berlin International Opera, his second major theater work.
