Blumenegg castle ruins

The castle ruin Blumenegg is the ruin of a spur castle in the municipality of Thüringerberg in Vorarlberg and about 1,000 meters east-northeast of the town of Thuringia .

history

The castle was built in 1258 on a mountain spur between the tobel castle and the Lutz . As the seat of the Blumenegg rulership , it was located in the middle of a former domain of the County of Montfort . In 1288 the castle was devastated by Bishop Friedrich von Chur . The castle went to the Count of Werdenberg , in 1391 as a lien and in 1416 as a regular property of Baron von Brandis . It was destroyed in 1404 or 1405 during the Appenzell Wars and rebuilt after 1408. In 1510 the castle went to the Counts of Sulz , and in 1613 to the Reichsstift Weingarten . After further renovations, it was destroyed by two fires in 1650 and 1774 and turned into ruins. In 1842 the Moosbrugger family bought the ruins. It is still privately owned today.

The bent almost rectangular plant is still with the remains of the keep , Palas , Chapel, curtain walls and farm buildings. Parts of it go back to the 13th century.
