Sonderberg Castle

The special Schloss , even special Bergschlosschen , Sønderborg Castle and Castle Mountain tinder called a small is small castle north of the town Götzis in Vorarlberg .

history

The castle was built from 1561 by the canon Friedrich Sandholzer von Sonderberg. After 1778 it fell into disrepair and was partially demolished in 1890. In the 1980s, the existing structure was restored . This consists of a narrow, high tower with a spiral staircase and a chapel . The property is currently privately owned.

The most important coin find ever made in Vorarlberg was found in the masonry . This coin find was given to the Vorarlberg Museum and the state of Vorarlberg on the occasion of the 150th anniversary of the Vorarlberg State Museum Association in 2007 .
