Tony Randel
Tony Randel (born May 29, 1956 in Los Angeles , California ) is an American film director , screenwriter and film editor .
Life
Tony Randel grew up in the neighborhood Baldwin Hills in Los Angeles on in the immediate vicinity of the site of the Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer -Filmstudios in the adjacent city of Culver City . As a young boy, Randel was curious to find out what was going on behind the ivy-clad walls of the MGM compound. In high school, Randel attended a summer course on film comprehension, in which the teacher showed participants the films Lights of the Big City from 1931 and Modern Times from 1936 by filmmaker Charlie Chaplin . These formative experiences aroused his interest in this medium. Randel began his career as an office worker inRoger Corman's production company New Word Pictures . Initially, as a delivery man, he drove the movie posters to local cinemas in a car. In 1980 he worked on the special effects for the B-movie production Sador - Rulers in Space and the following year for John Carpenter's The Rattlesnake . From the mid-1980s he also wrote screenplays and worked as a director, among other things he was involved in the Hellraiser feature film series. At times he was Vice President of New World Pictures. Since the 2000s he has also been working increasingly as an editor. He was responsible for editing several Jim Wynorski films.
Tony Randel is married and has four children. Since he has been friends with the screenwriter Peter Atkins since working together on the horror film Hellraiser II - Hellbound in 1988 , he gave his son the middle name Peter. Randel sees himself as an atheist .
