Supervised by therapists Charles and Holly, some young people go on an excursion into the forests of California. When the group's dog dies, they have it examined and discover that the dog had been attacked by an oversized tick. It turns out that pesticides used by marijuana growers in the area are what caused the rapid growth behavior. As a result, the vicious ticks hunt down the young people and their companions, who in the end can save themselves in a car and leave the forest.
