The Kuratienkirche Gargellen is located in Gargellen in the municipality of St. Gallenkirch in Vorarlberg . The Roman Catholic Kuratienkirche Hl. Maria Magdalena belongs to the deanery of Montafon in the diocese of Feldkirch . The church and the cemetery to the north are under monument protection .

history

The St. Gallenkirch branch was accepted as a chapel in 1411 and built as a church between 1611 and 1615 with a foundation by Peter Lentsch. During the Thirty Years' War it was destroyed in 1622 when the Prätigau invaded the Montafon. The church was rebuilt and on August 4, 1644, Bishop Johann VI consecrated it. from Chur the church and the main altar. In 1791 and 1792 the church was extended, the sacristy was rebuilt and the cemetery was laid out. In 1793, the Netzer Brothers construction company and Stoflet Brothers carpentry renewed the choir vault and erected a church tower.

Church building

The nave and the choir have a common gable roof, to the south of the nave there is a sign .

On the outside of the apex wall of the choir there is a sundial with a fresco of Mary and Child by Konrad Honold (1958).

Furnishing

The right side altar, donated by the Sebastian Brotherhood in 1649 , was commissioned by Peter Lentsch and executed in Renaissance style by David Bertle in 1674 . Around 1793 Josef Römer manufactured the baroque pulpit, the confessionals and benches. The neo-Romanesque high altar has figures by Moriz Schlachter around 1904. The frescoes Christ and John at the Last Supper in the choir and St. Magdalena in the nave are by Anton Marte from 1909, the glass paintings around 1930 from the Tyrolean glass painting company . The left side altar was acquired from Lech in 1974 and the sculptor Melchior Lechleitner is accepted for the figures .
