The Coughran Peak is a 1700 m high mountain peak on the Antarctic Ross Island . It towers at the east end of Guardrail Ridge in the Kyle Hills .
The Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names named him in 2000 after William A. Coughran, an employee of the United States Antarctic Program , who was active in 14 campaigns at the Amundsen-Scott South Pole Station and the McMurdo Station from 1984 onwards.
