Cover me (concert)

cover me was an annual benefit concert from 2002 to 2013 by the Kölner AIDS-Hilfe and the Lebenshaus Foundation . Only celebrities appeared with cover versions of well-known songs.

The concert series was launched in 2002 by the comedian and presenter Dirk Bach . On December 6, 2002, in front of 650 spectators, alongside Bach, Thomas Hermanns , Maren Kroymann , Hella von Sinnen , Georg Uecker , Isabel Varell and Pe Werner appeared for the first time in the Ehrenfeld volcano halls .

The concert has since taken place annually in November or December. In 2003 the event moved to the larger hall of the Limelight, in 2005 to the E-Werk , and in 2007 to the Palladium hall, which can hold up to 4000 people. Performing artists include musicians, actors , television presenters, and comedians . The proceeds go to the Cologne Aids Aid and the Lebenshaus Foundation, which supports projects to prevent new infections with HIV and to improve the living conditions of people with AIDS .

After Dirk Bach's death, Cover Me paused in 2012. In the following year, the concert took place again in memory of its initiator. After that, however, the organizers announced that they did not want to continue the series.

In ten years, around 350,000 euros have been raised for a good cause.
