The Coxe Glacier is a glacier in the US state of Alaska . It is located in the Chugach National Forest less than 100 km east of Anchorage .
geography
The 10.5 km long Coxe Glacier has its nutrient area at an altitude of 1500 m in the southwestern Chugach Mountains . From there it flows in a south-westerly direction and ends on the northeast bank of Barry Arm , a side bay of Prince William Sound . The glacier covers an area of around 16 km² and has an average width of 1.5 km. The larger Barry Glacier runs west of the Coxe Glacier .
Naming
The glacier was named in 1910 after William Coxe (1748–1828), an English historian.
