Crassula granvikii is a species of thick leaf ( Crassula ) in the thick leaf family(Crassulaceae).

description

Crassula granvikii is a prostrate to creeping up with erect ends, annual plant with different growth forms, the diameter of up to 45 centimeters. In the water it is not very branched and ascending. In dry locations it is heavily branched, creeps with erect ends, takes root at the nodes and forms mats. Their linear to oblong spatulate leaves are 2 to 15 millimeters long and 0.3 to 3.5 millimeters wide. The leaves of a pair are fused together and form an almost pocket-shaped sheath up to 2 millimeters high. The tip of the leaf is pointed to bluntly rounded.

The inflorescence is reduced to a single axillary, four-fold flower . Occasionally up to four flowers per leaf axil are formed. The flower stalk is 2 to 10 millimeters long. The elongated, somewhat pointed to blunt, bare petals are fused together at their base and are up to 1.3 millimeters long and 1 millimeter wide. Their 1 to 2 millimeters long and 1 millimeter wide, white to pink-colored sepals are elongated and rounded at their tips. The reddish purple anthers up to 0.8 millimeters long. The obovate, long to long to 1.2 millimeters, rounded carpels are the stylus contracted. One to four seeds are formed per carpel . The narrow, elongated ellipsoidal seeds are tiny warty and up to 1 millimeter long.

Systematics and distribution

Crassula granvikii is common in Uganda , Kenya and Tanzania on moist river banks and often lives in water.

The first description by Gottfried Wilhelm Johannes Mildbraed was published in 1922. A nomenclatory synonym is Tillaea granvikii (mildbr.) VVByalt (2002).
