The Cristallinahütte ( Capanna Cristallina ) is a mountain hut and belongs to the Ticino section of the Swiss Alpine Club (SAC) in Lugano .

description

It has been located on the Cristallinapass , the transition between Valle Bavona and Bedrettotal , at 2575  m above sea level since it was rebuilt in 2002 . M.

It can be reached on foot from Ossasco (Bedrettotal) in about 3.5 hours, Robiei (mountain station of the aerial cable car) in 2.5 hours, Fusio in 6.5 hours or Piano di Peccia in 7 hours ( Maggia valley or side valley of the Peccia) .

It offers a total of 120 beds, divided into 17 rooms with 4 to 12 beds. It is open from the end of June to the beginning of October , and occasionally in winter.

The Cristallinahütte, originally built in 1939, was about 150 meters below the current location. It was almost completely destroyed by an avalanche in the winter of 1999. For safety reasons (the hut was badly damaged by avalanches for the third time in 1999), the new hut was built on the pass according to plans by Baserga Mozzetti. Today only a pile of stones remains of the old hut.

The hut is the stage of the first stage of the Via Alta Idra high-altitude trail , which leads in 12 stages from the source of the Ticino river to its confluence with Lake Maggiore .
