Cross-Collateral is a merger album by the Passport group .

background

Cross-Collateral was Passport's fifth studio album. All pieces come from Klaus Doldinger. The album begins with the piece Homunculus , a rather spacey piece with a soprano saxophone . The title track Cross-Collateral is a thirteen- minute suite that Doldinger opens with a saxophone solo, with all band members joining in gradually.

The third track, Jadoo , is faster with a harmonic keyboard solo. Will-O'The-Wisp has a funky rhythm. Albatros song is more like background music. The last track, Back then , is pretty calm and slow. The electric piano from Schultze is accompanied by Schmidt on the acoustic guitar.

reception

Richard Foss awarded four and a half out of five stars on allmusic and wrote:

“Cross-Collateral is the album that shows how well this jazz band can rock and how well this rock band can play jazz. […] Cross-Collateral was an international success and brought this band to greater prominence in the USA, and it's easy to see why. To put it simply, everything fits together perfectly. "
