Weisdin manor

The Weisdin Manor (also Weisdin Castle ) is a listed manor house in Weisdin , a district of Blumenholz , a municipality in the Mecklenburg Lake District ( Mecklenburg-Western Pomerania ). The building is not far from Bundesstraße 96 to Neubrandenburg , about five kilometers from Neustrelitz .

The place was owned by the Peccatel family (also Peckatel) from 1387 to 1761 .

History and architecture

The previous building and almost the entire village burned down around 1740. Gotthard Carl Friedrich von Peckatel had the building erected in 1749 as a two-storey mansion with nine axes , with a central risalit , in the Baroque style. The construction site was on the north bank of the mid-lake . The building is covered with a hipped roof. At the same time, on the other hand, the church was built on an octagonal plan. Since the owner Peckatel had five daughters but no male descendants, in 1761 he sold all of his goods to the Duke of Mecklenburg-Strelitz , Adolf Friedrich IV. A few years later, the property was leased and the respective tenants lived in the house. A winter garden with outside stairs was added to the park side of the building at the end of the 19th century.

After 1918 the plant became the property of the Free State of Mecklenburg-Strelitz. During the GDR era, the house was used as a cultural center, restaurant and school. The building, which is now privately owned, has been extensively renovated since 1997. a. the coat of arms of the duke in the gable triangle was renewed and has served as a residential building ever since.

The spacious staircase with a double staircase, the stucco ceilings with ornamental decorations and the ballroom in several rooms have been preserved from the original building. The house was Monument of the Month in September 2012.

The castle ruins of the Knights of Peckatel are south of the lake.
