The Cruickshank River is a 25 km long river in the central east of Vancouver Island in the Canadian province of British Columbia .

River course

The Cruickshank River rises between the two mountains Mount Frink and Castlecrag Mountain in the Vancouver Island Ranges at an altitude of about 1580  m . It initially flows north to Moat Lake . It leaves this at its northeastern end and then flows mainly in a southerly direction. The tributaries Eric Creek , Rees Creek and finally, 4 km above the confluence with Comox Lake , Comox Creek meet the Cruickshank River from the right. The latter is fed by the Comox glacier . The mouth of the Cruickshank River on the west bank of Comox Lake protrudes far into the lake.

Hydrology

The Cruickshank River drains an area of ​​213 km². The mean discharge is 18.2 m³ / s. The river usually carries the largest amounts of water in the months of May, June and November. August and September are the months with the lowest runoff.
