Crunchyroll Expo ( CRX for short ) is an annual anime convention held in late August / early September at the San Jose McEnery Convention Center in San Jose, California on Labor Day weekend . The convention is organized by the American Crunchyroll and Reedpop. The convention offers an artist alley , a dealer room, cosplays , panels and video games. Numerous animes will also be announced at the Expo, which the VoD service Crunchyroll will later stream.

history

The Crunchyroll Expo first took place in 2017 at the Santa Clara Convention Center in Santa Clara , California . The first CRX was carried out together with LeftField Media. The MAGWest took place on the same weekend and we joined together to visitors to allow participation at both conventions. The Crunchyroll Expo had staffing and ID verification issues, as well as confusion over autograph cards. In 2018 the Crunchyroll Expo moved to the San Jose McEnery Convention Center in San José . For CRX 2020, Crunchyroll entered into a partnership with Reedpop, which is helping to organize the event this year. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic , the CRX for 2020 has been canceled, instead the expo will take place as a virtual event under the name Virtual Crunchyroll Anime Expo .
