Adam Savage
Adam Whitney Savage (born July 15, 1967 in New York ) is an American special effects expert, product designer and actor . He became known to a wide audience for his lead role in the series MythBusters . Models designed by him have been seen in films such as Matrix Reloaded or Star Wars: Episode II - Attack of the Clone Warriors .
Life
Adam Savage was born in New York City and raised in Sleepy Hollow , Westchester County , where he attended school until 1984. His father, Whitney Lee Savage (1928–1998) worked as a painter, filmmaker, underground film director and animator for the television production Sesame Street . Savage's mother is a psychotherapist. Adam Savage began acting as a child by performing on Sesame Street. He later appeared in a video for Billy Joel's song "Second Wind" as a teenager . Since his earliest childhood, around the age of five, he designed his first constructions and made his own toys. After school he worked as a graphic designer and interior decorator as well as in the field of stage design, where he worked as a set designer, carpenter and welder at well-known theaters in New York and San Francisco.
Savage has brought his experience in the field of cinematic special effects to more than 100 commercials and some well-known films and has produced props and models for Coca-Cola , Hershey's and Lexus , among other things . Prior to his first appearances as the presenter of MythBusters, Savage worked for Jamie Hyneman as a special effects employee at M5 Industries .
Savage has been a contributor to the YouTube channel Tested since 2012. This has gained more than 5 million subscribers over time.
In 2019 Savage published his book Every Tool's A Hammer , in which he writes about his experience of creative work.
Adam Savage has been married since 2003 and has twin sons from a previous relationship. His sister Kate Savage is also an artist. Savage is an atheist, humanist, and skeptic .
