Kari Elizabeth Byron (born December 18, 1974 in the San Francisco Bay Area , California ) is an American sculptor , painter and television presenter . She was best known through the television program MythBusters - Die Wissensjäger .

Life

After graduating from San Francisco State University with a degree in film and sculpture , Kari Byron went on a few trips before starting to work as a painter and sculptor. She has had several successful exhibitions with her works in well-known galleries in San Francisco . Her design skills and penchant for doing odd jobs soon led her into the field of model design and prototype creation in the toy field, so she got a job at M5 Industries , a company founded by Jamie Hyneman in 1997 . It was through him that Kari Byron got her role in MythBusters on the Discovery Channel .

Kari Byron has been married to the artist Paul Urich since 2006. The couple have a daughter. Kari Byron is also an atheist and pescetarian .

At MythBusters , Byron co-hosted a team with Tory Belleci and Grant Imahara, and worked with Adam Savage and Jamie Hyneman . The program tries to get to the bottom of different myths . Each of them had their own area within the show. Their first task was to make a model to investigate the rumor that the vacuum toilets in airplanes could muster enough force to injure a person from the negative pressure. Since the second season of the show, she had taken on a bigger role with her team. Byron was on maternity leave during the second half of 2009, when she was represented at MythBusters by Jessi Combs .

Since 2010, Kari Byron has her own television series Head Rush on the Science Channel. The program focuses on scientific education, especially for young people. Byron also hosted two issues of Large, Dangerous Rocket Ships for the Science Channel in 2010 and 2011 .
